Communication

I’ve often said that communication is a skill, not a trait. Like a muscle, it needs regular exercise or it will atrophy. Over the past year, I’ve attended City Council meetings and have been impressed when residents take the time to share their thoughts with the Council and City Staff. I’m also grateful to the city for distributing information in a variety of ways—through the website, social media, the Ridgerunner News, and physical signs posted around town.

These experiences reinforce my belief that the role of a City Council member is to communicate directly with Fruit Heights citizens, helping to create an informed public that understands how decisions are made, who they impact, and when and where public comment is welcome. I am committed to clear and accessible communication, and I will take the time to meet with residents, answer questions, and ensure that information is shared openly and consistently.

Preparedness & Safety

We live in a beautiful city, but we also face serious risks: flooding, mudslides, wildfires, earthquakes, and high winds are all real threats. The best defense is a strong offense in preparing for them. I support reinvesting time and resources into hosting CERT trainings, helping residents learn practical skills to keep themselves and their neighbors safe.

With HB 48 taking effect on January 1, 2026, the entire city will likely be impacted. I believe citizens need clear guidance on what these new fees mean and how they will be assessed. I will support emergency preparedness in Fruit Heights by backing the work of the Citizen Corps Committee and ensuring residents are informed and empowered to take proactive steps for their safety.

Finances

I am proud that our city has remained debt-free. Fruit Heights has been very smart about planning for the future: we save for major projects while maintaining a rainy-day fund for emergencies. Good fiscal planning needs to be deliberate, clear, and goal-oriented.

I will support policies that ensure transparency in city spending, advocate for responsible budgeting, and work to maintain our strong financial position. I am also happy to review budget items with any resident who has questions, helping ensure everyone understands how funds are allocated and how financial decisions impact our community.

Public Spaces

Fruit Heights’ parks, trails, and open areas are already well-maintained, and I am committed to keeping them that way. I will support consistent maintenance schedules and rapid removal of graffiti or other damage to preserve the beauty and safety of our community.

I also support programs that engage youth in positive activities and creative expression, while ensuring that those who commit vandalism are held accountable. By combining stewardship, community involvement, and firm enforcement, I pledge to keep our public spaces welcoming and safe for everyone.

Community Voice

I am fortunate to spend my time in and around our city—volunteering in schools, driving carpool, and visiting with neighbors. These interactions give me firsthand insight into the concerns and priorities of our residents.

I will reach out personally to community members who cannot attend meetings in person, listen carefully to their concerns, and bring their perspectives to city discussions. I will advocate for policies and initiatives that reflect the needs of all residents, ensuring every voice in our community is heard and represented.

Fresh Ideas

As I’ve canvassed our city, I’ve been impressed by how well-informed and engaged our neighbors are. I bring a fresh perspective as someone who hasn’t yet served on the City Council, and I see the value in combining that viewpoint with the knowledge and experience of long-time residents.

I believe that by working together—through brainstorming sessions, open dialogue, and collaborative problem-solving—we can identify creative, efficient solutions to the challenges our city faces. I will support policies and initiatives that foster innovation and encourage community-driven ideas, ensuring our city continues to grow in thoughtful, practical ways.
